The Soul and Ego Out of Alignment

And when the Soul and Ego are out of alignment, the life is lived in the normal format of the culture. Currently, the vast majority of souls living an earth experience live the experience when the Soul and the Ego are out of alignment. For the most of those souls, life appears to be dull and predictable in a fashion only limitation and lack can create. Dull and predictable in that limitation and lack are predictable – are the givens in a lifetime and in a life. For, without the Soul to create new and different and magical, the Ego must attach to the Soul. This limitation and lack can be both of the physical and of not the non-physical and, due to the lack of the physical, most individual who live only from the perspective of the Ego do not even realize they are not connected to the non-physical, the Divine.

The other position is one where the individual soul is living a life from the soul perspective. And, as beautiful and delightful as that may be, without the Ego to create, the individual is left in a place of lack from the perspective of the physical. And, as others who are not connected to the Divine (living from a position of Ego) see this lack, they disengage even more fully from the possibility of connecting with their Soul – for fear they will become like those only connected with their Soul.

The goal, if any individual chooses, is to find and live the balance between Soul and Ego – and to have the Ego willing and ready to accept what the Soul brings forth from the Field of All Possibilities. And in that acceptance, to agree to all that the Soul has brought forth. Scary, isn’t it.

The Soul and Ego in Alignment

August 18, 2009

And you may ask, what does life look like when the Soul and Ego; Ego and Soul are in alignment and in optimum relationship?  Ego and Soul, when in optimum relationship, operate in the manner a well oiled assembly line operates with one exception – the exception is that the Ego never really knows what the Soul is sending ‘down the line’.
And it is this  not knowing that has had so many of us deciding to keep the Ego in charge – despite the ramifications of such a decision.  When the Ego is in charge, we have some idea of knowing (or at least perceive we have some idea of knowing) what is ‘coming down the line’ because it is the same thing we have seen or heard or lived before.
That is the value of keeping the Ego in control; of not bringing the Soul into the process; and particularly of not allowing the Soul to do its job. When the Soul is doing its job, it is bringing a world of possibilities into our lives.  And that world of possibilities can be a bit disconcerting, particularly for those of us who have lived many lifetimes of not connecting with our Soul selves.

When we bring these two wonderful aspects of our self into alignment, we are able to create lives that are rich and full; lives that allow us our own evolution; lives that feel safe and yet explorative.  It is in this balancing of the two aspects of ourselves that we are able to maximize our daily, yearly and lifetime living.

And yet, it is this abundant living that we shy away from the most.  And this is due, in large part, whether conscious or unconscious, to the fact that abundance involves abundance in all things – both the joy and the learning.  And we, as humanity, only want ‘the easy’.  We only want that which comes without risk; without pain; with guarantees; and often, without growth.  And this takes us back to the original challenge.  This takes us back to why humanity (we) have often left the Ego in charge.  With the Ego in charge, we know what to expect (for the most part); we know what each day will look like from morning to night. And, if safety is the main concern, this is not a bad plan.

And yet, we often complain about wanting more in life – wanting more abundance, more love, more happiness, more ease.  And the only consistent manner in which to obtain these aspects of life is to align the Ego with the Soul and to know that each of these aspects bring with it a lesson in self, in relationship, in life as a human experience.

The Relationship of Soul and Ego

Depending upon our beliefs, we may see Soul as positive and Ego as less positive. In fact, the vast majority of literature these days that deals with the Ego and the Soul would say that the Ego is way out of control.  And this literature would be correct.  It would be current in the way that handing the keys to a car to  three year old creates a three year old who is out of control.

What humanity has done – what we have done – is put Ego in the drivers sea of not only its responsibility in our lives.  We have also given it full rein for the responsibility of the Soul.  In this way, we have positioned Ego as both our creator and our implementer.  When, in fact, the Soul and Ego are intended to work in concert, each with their own responsibilities; each with their own tasks; each with their own areas of expertise.  When we align our Ego and our Soul, we can create a ‘big band sound’.  When we only align to our Ego, we create a rather tinny sound; and when we align to our Soul only, we create a faint high pitched sound that no human ear can hear.

It is only when we align the both the Ego and the Soul – the Soul and the Ego that we are able to create rich and full lives with a ‘big band sound’.
